By vagamundo361, on Februar 24th, 2009 Last Day in Antarctica
Not last day on the ship though. From 10 full days on the ship we will in the end have spent 5 in the Drake Passage, flipping around. Antarctica is far away and you have to make efforts, and from my point of view it can stay like this always.

By vagamundo361, on Februar 23rd, 2009 After a quite exhausting day yesterday 😉 with hiking bathing and sauna today we could sleep in today, as with grey weather we entered and sailed into the Antarctic Sound (named after the expedition ship Antarctic). Around noon everyone was on the bridge and we always went out and back in again (freezing!) to take . . . → Read On: Antarctica, Antarctic Sound, Iceberg Alley, Devil Island
By vagamundo361, on Februar 22nd, 2009 1 Day Floating in the Middle of a Vulcano Crater
Over night there was strong snowfall, so we were slow and our Captain and crew on the bridge sailed us carefully through the night. Therefore we were later to our destination and enjoyed a long late breakfast at the big table, with new interesting stories . . . → Read On: Antarctica, Deception Island
By vagamundo361, on Februar 21st, 2009 6.30m sunrise brightly shouting, not shining, in sun(flower)yellow, into my cabin window (iss a window, not a porthole). Up and through the Lemaire Channel, the famous.
Morning landing at the Ukrainean station Vernadsky, formerly the British Station Faraday. When the Brits wanted to close it down they sold it to the Uk´s for 1GBP. And . . . → Read On: Antarctica, Lemaire Channel, Vernadsky, Port Lockroy, Neko
By vagamundo361, on Februar 20th, 2009 We stepped on an Antarctic Island today: Cuverville, situated 64° 41´S / 62° 38`W, in between Rongé Island situated in the Gerlache Strait and the mainland. The island is home of about max. 20.000 Gentoo Penguins, a pity I cannot send a photo of the smell with this ;).
It was a wonderful (first) landing: . . . → Read On: Antarctica, Cuverville Island, Neko Harbour and Paradise Bay
By vagamundo361, on Februar 19th, 2009 Lines off 6.30pm in Ushuaia on Monday. Alive again at 9am on Wednesday. What had happened in between?
A wonderful panorama of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel when upon departure made us all very happy, as well as J´s fantastic Welcome Dinner, a dream.
After that we peacefully went to sleep, and around midnight the . . . → Read On: Antarctica, Crossing the Drake Passage
By vagamundo361, on Dezember 29th, 2002 Dieser Tag ist einzigartig, der schönste bisher? Scheint mir jedenfalls gerade so.
. . → Read On: Cuverville Island und Neko Harbour
By vagamundo361, on Dezember 28th, 2002 Nachmittags hatten meine Überredungskünste dann doch gewirkt, zwei Kollegen kamen mit mir schwimmen in Whalers Bay.
. . → Read On: Schwimmen in der Antarktis
By vagamundo361, on Dezember 9th, 2002 Schlechtes Wetter.
. . → Read On: Deception Island
