St. Petersburg

My first time in Russia! I was so excited! To get to know the city I opted for a boat cruise and one of the many fortress/church options, visiting Peter & Paul Fortress. Our beautiful guide Xenia, who spoke very good German, told us that St. Petersburg has 300 days of rain per year. We . . . → Read On: St. Petersburg – First time in Russia!

Life at sea

Off for a short trip to England.

I like to fly #germanwings – I still do get my tomato juice there 🙂 (if my client books the „smart“ option).

Food and luggage allowance please, when I job-travel! I might opt differently when I go adventure travelling privately. But for business I require a certain standard, . . . → Read On: Life at Sea

Sailing into New York

I was so excited to see this! And it was a fantastic experience. There is no better way to travel to New York!!! 🙂

Went to bed fairly early the night before, to get up at 4.15am [well, 3,20am as a colleague had not set his clock back ;)] and went up on deck 12. . . . → Read On: Sailing into New York

Few hours in Southampton, UK

Southampton is probably a city with nice typical English houses, lots of brick, pretty gardens. I could see that from the distance.

But when you are docked in port an on foot, walking distance does not take you there. I was happy to see a typical red telephone box :).

Other than that, . . . → Read On: Few hours in Southampton, UK

Day 7 - Coming Home by Ship

As mentioned before, sailing in and out of Hamburg is a very special moment (hour) for me being from Hamburg – and for visitors of course.

I was up and on deck at 5am, just when passing by Falkenstein, Blankenese, Airbus…

What a beautiful sunset time, right after dusk, listening to the birds ashore at . . . → Read On: Day 7 – Coming Home by Ship

Day 5 – Visiting Oslo

The ship docked in the Björvika bay at the centric Revierkai, just minutes away from the center of Oslo, and with a great view onto the Opera House.

Again, we were lucky, the sun came out (and before and after our port call it was raining) – the lucky ship.

In town, preparations were . . . → Read On: Day 5 – Visiting Oslo

Day 3 - Hafengeburtstag in Hamburg

Sailing into Hamburg or out is always spectacular.

But doing so during the 825. Hafengeburtstag was very special.

Even more, if you are from Hamburg, like me.

We were the last ship of the parade (Auslaufparade) on Sunday.

Day 1 – Embarkation in Southampton

Lovely weather in England, while raining at home. Beautiful landscape in this region of the UK.

All three Queens (Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria) together in port in Southampton. First this bay is really pretty, second the scenery of all Cunard ships in port is quite special and touching.
