Sailing up the Hudson River into New York
– 29 photos / 3 min. slideshow –
I was so excited to see this! And it was a fantastic experience. There is no better way to travel to New York!!! 🙂
Went to bed fairly early the night before, to get up at 4.15am [well, 3,20am as a colleague had not set his clock back ;)] and went up on deck 12. But uuuh, it rained heavily!
Luckily it stopped soon, and more and more crew came out on deck to watch us getting closer to the Verazzano Bridge. With just 4 meters in between us! Lots of traffic on the bridge already at that time (around 4.30am).
That was the first highlight. Then came the arrival, the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan were getting closer. The silence around us. The lights. The athmosphere and experience, the company – unforgettable forever :). This was definetely worth all the hard work on a ship, and also made up a bit for not being able to stay overnight in the city, due to my crew status.
