Cruising the English Narrows in the Smith Channel is extremely dangerous.
On 3.8.1891 the SS Roma, a ship owned by the shipping company A. Kirsten (Hamburg Pacific Dampfschiffs Linie HDPL) and on its way from Iquique to Hamburg, sank there, when pressed against a rock by the current.
So while we sailed through, some 50 times, the bridge was fully manned, helmsman on the wheel, complete silence please.
