ABBA Museum

It was emotional to see so much memory, know all songs and lyrics, remember old times. And see the success of those 10 years, from back then when I was very young. Plus hearing about how the band members themselves love this museum. The red phones are someyhing special: if one rings, it is a band member in person! They wanted this option, to sometimes speak to their fans.

Constantly along the waterfront

… Beautiful, everything we saw, everywhere we went. Evening cruising, Schärengarten.Water, water, water :).Stockholm.

Vasa Museum in Stockholm

I had previously for another site for this first quick city visit on my own, but when we arrived I changed my mind. Four of us went to the Vasa ship museum in Stockholm. The weather was getting better and better, and the city looked beautiful, as we took the tram (no 7. The funny thing is that there is only one tram line. So why 7?… )

With our public transportation daypass the entry was included, as for many other sites.

Wow wow wow, what a massive ship, how very impressive, and what a shiplife, what a story! Gotta read more about it from home. It was huge, beautiful, and the story is pretty sad, it sank straight away, too much and wrongly positioned weight namely canons.

This size….

The Perfect Travel Handbag

While I am waiting aka sitting in the plane….
This post will later go into the travel equipment section.Describing my perfect travel bag, from Vaude, adding pics to it.The different compartments are perfect: Front for instant access to camera and phone/camera. Back pocket for additional folded backpack.
Inside one main space for the big stuff, one side pocket I use for important items and small stuff not needed often (keys, calendar).
Straps are fantastic: Adjustable both, so I can wear one over each  shoulder (esp when it becomes heavy, or for security) or both over one. Never seen any other bag that offers this comfortable option. Then we get to the content I carry with me, smaller travel bags, two different kinds. One is the A5 slips for paper, like documents or brochures. When on longer trips they are extremely helpful to keep everything in order.
I have many labeled, „travelling now“, „travels done“, „emergency“, „receipts“  (w paper clips for different subjects), „tourist“…: A5 Dokumententasche.
The other kind of bag I use comes and travels w/ me in three sizes, for different items. They are zippered and also sometimes labeled, „safe“, „in flight liquid“ „handbag tinies“, „stationary“…: Different size zipper bags. Both last very long. There are many I am using for over about 5 years already.

I do the labeling with my Brother Touch labeler

Plus: the Vaude handbag also has a nice design. I hope it will last long. I only us it for travels.

Vaude Handbags (mine is a few years old already – and I hope to be able to get a very similar one, if mine should break…)

Flown fast!

Wow, arriving 15min early, on a short flight HAM STO, with SAS. Amazing, last time that happened was NYC HAM decades ago and where it is common.

Just in time or too late?

Well planned, ample time, but then slowing down – to nearly arrive too late, but actually with perfect timing.

Packed the rest into my new suitcase this morning, all previously put out. The early morning was filled with all kinds of purposely last minute actions.

Washing my hair (a time consuming task all together), putting the last fruit/veggie garbage out, laminating new crew luggage tags, doing a washing machine load, sending off an amazon order to arrive early next week when I am back, make Stullen (travel food), drink water, polish the last load of cleaned shoes (due to previous procrastination)…

to then leave late and immediately be nervous. Drove my car to close to the airport, well parked it in a side street of a residencial area which I do on short trips.

Then I had to immediately switch to plan B: Taxi! As check-in would close 10min later. I thought. Forgetting that my car clock is about 5min ahead. Paid 10€ instead of a cheap bus fare and got to T2 just in time. 10€ is also the total cost with car2go when traffic is low, otherwise 15€. But then, I will have a cheap return.

All is well. Enjoying some quiet time on the SAS plane to Stockholm.

Boarding the next ship soon...

In 2006 I watched this vessel passing by us, in Helsinki.
These days I will be able to enjoy the view from the opposite angle.

Spargelzeit

It is asparagus time in Germany, white asparagus!

I believe noone is as mad about it as us, especially in the North of the country.

For about a month, I can eat it every day, and so do my parents. And I am even not varying the recipe.

It is always the same: white asparagus with butter and parsley, and a special ham called „Katenschinken“.
Boil the esparagus with a bit of sugar and of salt in the pot. I do not use one of these tall asparagus pots but just cut off the end – hey, this is not haute cuisine nor does anyone else see it in my kitchen

Sometimes with new potatoes, but I try to not eat those every night ;).

Others add Sauce Hollandaise, and sometimes chicken breast. There are various recipes.

I live it. I love it.

Stockholm and Helsinki

The capitals of Sweden and Finland will be next on my travel schedule.

Two weeks to go… it will be an organized trip and the way in between both countries I will make by ship.

I assume this means „reserved“…

Mallorca, London and Amsterdam

Just finished a few jobs, which lead me to beautiful places like the Balearic island of Mallorca for a few days, twice to the city of London for a few hours, as well as to Amsterdam for an afternoon.

Wrapping up the travel documentation and photo albums to soon be posted here.
