My favourite question here is: “Do you take Chilean pesos?” I laugh a lot when I hear that, and so do shop owners. No!
Driving around with a local car is fun, you feel like you really belong to this place and could feel cool, if you were able to properly drive the Russian Jeep.
Yesterday I bumped into two leftover passengers, while I thought this place was a PFZ (passenger free zone or pax-free-zone) already for days!
Houses here are interesting, from tiny shells and shacks to adventurous construction. I wonder how they survive the winters. But they must do so, so actually I would really be interested in the way they do their simple and no-money buildings! This place is so lovely and I can imagine working here for some time. Everybody is friends and people help each other, swap by services. E.g. I stayed as a guest in the Museum/Prison for free and I will translate their brochure into German for free. The only problem is the Armada and Government. If you have to get in touch with them via your job, forget it, it is an injust and disappointing hastle, which only make you wanna leave the place.
The last minutes in Kaupe were sad, realizing I have to leave again, soaking up the athmosphere. Then walking back to the museum, in a warm climate, quiet streets, overlooking the place, it really feels like I have lived here for some time.
Annoyances are phones that ring at 1am for young Argentines, I share the place with. Or a ships abandon-ship signal for about half an hour. So long, that you wake up that much to start counting the alarm signals and to note what it means – abandon-ship. Funny feeling to think that the whole town is awake and thinks the same as I do! A night in prison, well, I spent several. But only one evening in the prisoners uniforms and cells, during a theater performance is interesting, although it costs to really try to feel how it was like those days. Also, I didn’t want to get bad dreams, so preferred to go on thinking and being reminded of (the size of) my ship´s cabin I just left.
Some wallpaintings about ruining your straight and correct life you lived so far forever in one hour was impressing. And love mentioned: You are never loved the way you love, so the art of being happy is to give everything without asking nothing. Or in spanish, as it was written:
Nunca se es amado como se ama, por eso el arte de ser feliz en el amor consiste en dar todo sin pedir nada.
